Gov. Tim Pawlenty will attend the dedication Saturday of a memorial to people who fought in the Vietnam War.
The Central Minnesota Vietnam Memorial, an etched black granite marker erected at Eastman Park near Lake George, will be dedicated at 10 a.m. with a parade of colors, a salute to the troops and music.
Mayor Dave Kleis said Pawlenty's staff have confirmed that he will be there to dedicate the memorial and the Minnesota POW/MIA Walk of Honor, which will connect the new memorial to one commemorating 17 area men who died in the Vietnam War.
Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Central Minnesota Chapter 290 and the Vietnamese Community of St. Cloud organized the memorial's creation.
