Vietnam repatriates remains of 3 U.S. soldiers killed in war

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) _ The suspected remains of three American soldiers killed during the Vietnam War have been sent back to the United States.

A U-S official says three cases holding the likely remains of the soldiers left Da Nang in central Vietnam in a military aircraft headed for the U-S.

Ron Ward is an official of the U-S M-I-A, or Missing in Action, office in Vietnam.

He says the are to be identified at by experts in Hawaii.

The remains were recovered from three different sites over the past three months.

Nearly 18-hundred U-S servicemen deployed to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War remain unaccounted for since the conflict ended in 1975. An estimated 58-thousand Americans and three million Vietnamese were killed in the war.
